Mumbai, Dec 11: The Kanara Catholic Association (KCA), Bandra, Mumbai, under the leadership of president Sunil Lobo, kicked off its Christmas celebrations for members and guests on December 7 at the KCA Walter Nazareth Hall.
The event began with a prayer led by Fr Richard Crasta, parish priest of St Michael’s Church, Mahim, who has been managing church properties for several decades. The celebrations featured live music by Al Jude and his band, a popular group in Mumbai known for their performances at various gymkhanas.
The event was organized by managing committee member Clara Menezes and her team, while food and beverages were handled by Anil Pais, also a managing committee member. Edwin Pinto, managing director of DHL Global Forwarding, was the chief guest for the occasion and was introduced by general secretary Sanjay Rego. Pinto was felicitated by senior vice president Adrian Vaz.
The quarterly Amchi Khobar newsletter was released in the presence of the chief guest and managing committee members, including treasurer Boris Buthelo. Other managing committee members present were Anne Marie Rego, Christopher Alvares, Neel D’Souza, and Neisha Lobo, along with chief editor Rolin Mendonca.
Members were delighted by the presence of Ashish Shelar, the three-time elected MLA of Bandra. Shelar addressed the gathering, sharing his contact details for any constituency-related concerns. He also mentioned his connection to Mangaluru, noting that his son had pursued engineering in Manipal and is fond of Mangalorean cuisine. Currently serving as treasurer of the BCCI, Shelar spoke fondly of former cricketer Roger Binny.
Shelar was introduced and felicitated by president Sunil Lobo.
Compere Suzie D’Silva entertained the audience with games and activities that kept everyone engaged. The evening concluded with a sumptuous dinner provided by Flora Caterers, following a prayer of grace by Fr Richard.
The party continued late into the night, with members and guests enjoying music, dance, and camaraderie, marking a joyful start to the Christmas season.
