Bangalore: Multi-Skill Development Centre for Mangalore

Bangalore, Dec 20: A multi-skill development centre (MSDC) is proposed to be set up in Mangalore from the next financial year by the State Government.

Another similar MSDC will be established in Belgaum along with industrial schools in association with small scale industries.

At present, Karnataka has MSDCs in Gulbarga and Bangalore.

The State Government officials in a presentation to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s Adviser, S Ramadorai, in Bangalore on Tuesday mentioned that the State Labour and Employment Department will be making a formal request to the Centre to sanction at least 100 industrial training institutes under public-private-partnership and 250 skill development centres to Karnataka in 2012-13.

Senior officials of the State Labour Department and Skill Development Council made the presentation the Prime Minister’s Adviser during which Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, Labour Minister B N Bache Gowda and State Chief Secretary S V Ranganath also interacted with Ramadorai, who is also Vice-Chairman of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.

The Labour Minister said the State Government has demanded the Centre to hike the remuneration under “Modular Employable Skills” (MES) scheme from the current Rs 15 per hour to Rs 30 per hour.

Nearly 1.40 lakh students join various grades in over 1380 industrial training institutes in the State, the minister said.

Bache Gowda said the Government has taken several measures to train skills of students and held job melas to absorb trained candidates by the industries.

    It is good to see such plans and projects developing. Every taluk should have these MSDC so that our youth are trained on any skill and get gainful employment. There should also be efforts to start industries in all the taluks so that the trained youth will find jobs. This will help stop the flooding of cities in search of jobs. Good initiative and response.

    Capture all road-romeos and enroll them into these. Let them learn what it takes to earn a meal and emulate a skill to earn it. Better than being reared by hand-outs and waiting for an opportunity to stir the tranquility of the society !

    Great Job! by the PM and mr. Ramdorai.

    Work is worship- human resource is the key! and having skilled manpower is a strength and blessing. More people more strength but they should be absolutely disciplined and productive.

    Follow the Japanese -Israelis and the Germans see where they reached after the 2nd world wars.
    no short cuts - handwork-less talking more work-be innovative-creative- learn international languages ex: Japanese -mandarin-Spanish -Italian- German- french etc.

    We have to be very creative and business oriented use every resource that's available at hand.
    Designing is a great field. Architecture- product designing is amazing area.

    There area numerous new fields ex: Alternative energy- Environmental protection- Nuclear field- Robotics- Pharma- bio informatics etc. Agriculture - farming-industrialization

    Go abroad for experience.
