Mangalore, Dec 25:
Chief minister Sadananda Gowda on Sunday December 25 said that the centre has instructed the state to implement central CET syllabus in professional courses, and that the state government has asked for a time limit of two years to put bring about this change.

He was speaking after inaugurating Srinivas Institute of Medical Science & Research Centre and Srinivas Hospital at Srinivas Nagar, Mukka, Suratkal here.

CBSE syllabus would be introduced in science stream in PUC from the next academic year. This would help the students to compete in all-India exams effectively, he pointed out.

He further said that Rs 12,500 cr will be set aside exclusively for education in the coming budget. He asserted that educational institutions in coastal districts have contributed a lot, and this should be maintained as the government alone will not be able to do everything. "People’s contribution too is important," he said.

He wished that the newly-constructed Srinivas Hospital becomes the hope for poor people as medical treatment is becoming expensive these days.

Dr V S Acharya, minister for higher education, district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, AICC secretary Vimay Kumar Sorake among others were the guests.

Shree Vishweshwara Teertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt, Udupi blessed the occasion. CA A Raghavendra Rao, president, A Shama Rao Foundation presided.
