Udupi, Dec 30: The Udupi Town Police have successfully recovered 18 lost mobile phones over the past two months, following complaints filed through the E-Lost app and the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, an initiative by the Government of India to trace lost or stolen mobile phones.

Between November and December 2024, the Udupi Town Police, using the CEIR portal, recovered 18 mobile phones with a total estimated value of Rs 3.53 lac. The phones were returned to their rightful owners during a formal ceremony held on Monday, December 30.

Prabhu D T, Udupi's Deputy Superintendent of Police, who presided over the ceremony, said, “We have returned 18 recovered phones to their owners today. Those who lose their phones should upload the details in the E-Lost app and register them on the CEIR portal. The information is then forwarded to the concerned police station, enabling officers to investigate and recover the device. We urge everyone to utilise this app if their mobile phones are stolen.”

Sub Inspector Puneeth Kumar B E, Eranna Shirangumpi, CEN PS Ramachandra Nayak, and other officials were present at the event.
