Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jan 2: A fire broke out in a moving car in the city on Wednesday evening.

The incident involved a Volkswagen car traveling on the road leading to the helipad at Maryhill. The passengers noticed flames coming from the front portion of the car. Acting quickly, the driver stopped the vehicle, and all four occupants exited safely. Local residents attempted to extinguish the fire with water, and personnel from the Kadri fire service soon arrived at the scene to handle the situation. The car's engine was completely destroyed in the mishap.

This is the latest in a series of similar incidents reported in recent months. On December 16, a Hyundai car caught fire near City Centre Mall, with the driver narrowly escaping. On November 15, a car was gutted within minutes after a fire broke out near Kadri police station, though the driver escaped unharmed. On November 10, a Maruti 800 waiting in line at a petrol station suddenly caught fire and was completely burnt. Earlier, on September 28, a parked BMW at Adyar was destroyed in a fire, while on September 5, another BMW caught fire near NITK. In all cases, the occupants managed to evacuate in time without injuries.

What's the use of buying these high end cars by spending crores if there is no inbuilt safety in case of short circuit, fuel leakage etc; that too when not involved in a head on collision or some accident 😞; the owners of these cars have a very good case of suing the manufacturers of these boxes of death endangering lives of entire families!
