Ramgarh, Jan 8: In a devastating road accident near Tirla Chowk in the Gola police station area of Jharkhand's Ramgarh district, four people, including three schoolchildren, lost their lives, and eight others sustained injuries on Wednesday morning.

The tragedy unfolded when a potato-laden truck overturned and crushed an auto-rickshaw transporting students from Goodwill Mission School. The children, aged between five and eight, were buried under the heavy vehicle. Despite the valiant efforts of bystanders to rescue them, three children and the auto driver died instantly.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police and administrative teams arrived at the site to manage the situation and begin an investigation.

Heartbroken family members and locals gathered at the scene, mourning the loss of young lives. The incident led to protests, with residents blocking roads and causing significant traffic disruption. Ramgarh MLA Mamta Devi visited the site to console the grieving families and address their concerns.

The accident has also raised serious questions about the Goodwill Mission School’s decision to remain open despite a government directive to close all schools until January 13 due to a severe cold wave. Locals and parents have criticized the school management for defying the order, holding them accountable for the tragedy.

The truck driver fled the scene, and police are conducting a manhunt to apprehend him. Officials have assured that strict action will be taken against both the school and the driver for their respective violations.

This heartbreaking incident has left the community reeling, sparking calls for stricter adherence to government orders and enhanced road safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
