New Delhi, Jan 13: In a significant development for Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sonamarg Tunnel on Monday. This milestone project, built at a cost of ?2,700 crore, ensures year-round connectivity and promises to boost tourism and economic activities in the region.
Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi praised the transformation in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370, attributing the progress to PM Modi’s leadership. Naqvi highlighted that the abrogation paved the way for remarkable growth, enabling the people of the region to become active participants in the developmental and political processes. He described the transformation as a testament to the Prime Minister’s vision, which has created an atmosphere of trust and progress across the country, with visible impacts in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the inauguration, PM Modi interacted with engineers and workers who constructed the tunnel under challenging weather conditions and rugged terrain. Acknowledging their dedication, he lauded their hard work and determination, which made all-weather connectivity a reality. The Sonamarg Tunnel, with its advanced safety features, is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing the accessibility of the region, benefiting locals and tourists alike.
Naqvi also took the opportunity to criticize the INDIA bloc, referring to it as an alliance built on convenience and corruption. Citing recent remarks by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Naqvi argued that the Opposition coalition lacks a coherent vision and has failed to deliver on its promises. He claimed that the bloc’s internal contradictions and opportunistic motives are causing it to collapse, leaving it without a strong leader or direction.
As Rahul Gandhi launched his electoral campaign in Delhi, Naqvi dismissed the Congress party’s prospects, accusing it of relying on a victim narrative that no longer resonates with the public. He emphasized that the upcoming elections will focus on development and accountability, rather than excuses and lamentation.
Naqvi concluded by stating that the electorate is prepared to deliver a decisive mandate against those who have avoided accountability for years. With deceptive promises of the past exposed, the people are ready to embrace leadership that prioritizes progress and stability. The inauguration of the Sonamarg Tunnel stands as a symbol of the Union government’s commitment to Jammu and Kashmir’s development and its vision for inclusive growth.
