Panaji, Jan 15: A severe accident in Colvale on Tuesday night left a 40-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter with serious injuries. The mishap occurred when a four-wheeler, suspected to be driven under the influence of alcohol, collided with their two-wheeler around 8 PM.

According to the police, the four-wheeler driver was traveling in the wrong direction, causing the vehicle to hit the two-wheeler and another four-wheeler coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision destroyed the two-wheeler, leaving the woman and her daughter—who was riding pillion—seriously injured.

Both victims were rushed to the North Goa District Hospital for treatment. Colvale Police Inspector Vijay Rane Sardesai stated that the driver of the four-wheeler had been detained. He will undergo a medical test to confirm if he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Sardesai also mentioned that the process of registering an offence against the driver is underway.
