Mangaluru, Jan 16: The department of B Com at Srinivas University Institute of Management and Commerce organised an enriching industrial visit to Kalbavi Cashew Industry, located in Baikampady, Mangaluru, for all first-year B Com students. The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of a cashew processing industry, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practices.
The students were welcomed and guided by Leo, a representative of Kalbavi Cashew Industry. He provided comprehensive insights. Students were given a detailed explanation of the entire cashew processing workflow, from handling raw cashews to grading and packaging them.
Leo highlighted the transition from traditional methods to modern techniques in cashew processing, showcasing the advancements in machinery and technology used in the industry. The students learned about the operational challenges and strategies employed to maintain product quality and efficiency in the competitive market.
The visit was conducted under the expert supervision of: Dr Venkatesh Amin, dean of IMC, Prof Sharmila Shetty, head of the department of B Com, Prof Yashashwi A Ail, ACCA course coordinator, Prof Prathijna K, IV coordinator, Prof Hansel Rego, other faculty members of the department.
The students actively participated, engaged in discussions, and expressed keen interest in understanding the various processes. The visit offered a perfect blend of education and experiential learning, as students not only learned about the cashew industry but also observed the practical application of modern techniques and machinery.
