Mangaluru, Jan 23: Yenepoya Medical College Hospital witnessed an extraordinary act of humanity and compassion as the family of Satish K P (name has been changed) a 55-year-old patient, fulfilled his noble wish of organ donation.

Satish K P was admitted to Yenepoya Medical College Hospital on January 19 following a fall that resulted in an internal brain bleed. Despite the best efforts of the treating team, he was declared brain dead after a thorough evaluation. The treating team sensitively counseled his family regarding the situation and the possibility of organ donation.

Knowing that Satish had expressed his desire to donate his organs, his family made the brave and selfless decision to honor his wishes.

With the unwavering support of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital's skilled medical team and management, all necessary protocols for organ retrieval were efficiently fulfilled. The organ retrieval procedure was successfully conducted and two Kidneys and Corneas were retrieved on January 22. One kidney and both corneas will be utilized at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital and the other kidney has been allocated to KMC Hospital, Jyothi.

Yenepoya Hospital deeply appreciated the generosity and courage displayed by Satish’s family during this challenging time. Their decision will give a new lease of life to multiple individuals and serves as an inspiring example of the importance of organ donation.
