Mangalore, Jan 9: The annual diocesan Eucharistic procession began at Milagres Church with a Holy Mass led by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza along with Milagres parish priest Fr Walter D’Mello, Rosario parish priest Fr Stany Goveas, diocesan vicar general Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu, and nearly 70 priests from across the diocese, on Sunday January 8.

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, in his homily, stressed the importance of the season of Christmas and New Year together with the significance of the Epiphany of Jesus.  He also vitalized the relevance of the Eucharist in the lives of each and every Christian.

The solemn Eucharistic procession began after the Holy Mass with a sea of the faithful who arrived to take part from across the diocese, showing their solidarity and unity during the whole procession.  All through the way, there was chanting of hymns and prayers.

The Eucharistic procession then reached the grounds of Rosario Cathedral where a large number of faithful were awaiting the arrival of the Holy Eucharist.

Fr Leo Lasrado, professor of St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu, delivered the homily to a confluence of faithful at Rosario Cathedral grounds on the occasion.

The Eucharistic ceremony concluded with the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament led by Bishop D’Souza.

A brief felicitation programme was organized by the diocesan authorities to honour the parishes that contributed the highest collections during Mission Sunday.  St Francis Xavier parish, Bejai, bagged the first place this year.

The Bishop thanked all the collaborators who worked day and night for the solemn Eucharistic Mass and procession throughout the days.  He also highlighted the significance of the post-centenary silver jubilee year celebrations of Mangalore diocese to be held on Saturday February 11 and Sunday February 12.

He also imparted the Papal blessings on the diocesan faithful, and concluded the Eucharistic procession.

Mangala Jyoti director Fr Boniface Pinto compered the programme.

My heart filled with joy to see the Holy Eucharistic procession. Thrilled to see thousands of people gathered for the adoration of Jesus Christ our Lord. Christ’s great love for us was shown when he was crucified on the cross. He loves us without limit, and offers Himself to us in the Holy sacrament of the Eucharist. Can we not give him a few minutes in return thru adoration?

Mathew Chptr.10:32 "Those who publicly that they belong to me, I will do the the same for them before my Father in Heaven says Jesus. But those who reject me publicly, I will reject before my Father in heaven." This is the word of the Lord. Lord I thank you for your promise of blessing. I claim this blessing for all those people who participated and those could not participate Amen.

Its nice to see a huge crowd which came across the city to honor our Saviour Jesus. But also a sad thing that most of our brothers and sisters went to spend their time in malls, cinema and some stayed back at home unless coming to the Eucharistic procession. Anyhow may God bless all.

God bless us, such a wonderful procession. No any tensions, no stone throwing or attacks on others. No slogans condemning others. Just peace and that's what Jesus preached to us. This is called leading by example. As usual Nice pictures by Daijiworld.

The annual diocesan Eucharistic procession began at Milagres Church with a Holy Mass led by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza and it was a joyful and wonderful expression of faith, hope and happiness.

So many believers attended the annual diocesan Eucharistic procession and that shows how strong and alive Catholicism is in Mangalore.

Especially nowadays globalisation reaches every corner of India and there is an economic meltdown in developed countries, million of employees lost their jobs and have to live on unemployment benefits.

Dreams, hopes, wishes cannot become true, human beings are disappointed, hopeless, many see no future for their children and there is a tremendous increase of addiction to drugs.

Million are looking for a meaning of life. Human beings need spiritual help, friends, jobs and a bright future.

Therefore the message of the Gospel is so important. One who takes the Gospel seriously is suddenly confronted with a new chapter in life.

The message of the Gospel is dignity, joy, happiness, LOVE, mutual understanding, respect and tolerance and to see the needs of others, to help and to look after the poor.

A strong faith in Jesus, attending mass, reading the Bible, prayers and worship gives a meaning of life and it strengthens human beings.

As Christians we shall share with the poor and seeing in every poor Jesus.

And we need a qualified education in our competitive world.

But one thing is sure with a meaning of life, life is easier.

    Best regards

ONE THING IS CLEAR: PEACE, ORDER AND SERENITY IN THE FACE OF THESE PARTICIPANTS. NO AGGRESSION, NO POLITICAL AGENDA. IF WE KEEP POLITICS OUT OF RELIGION, PEACE PREVAILS. JAI HO!
