K'taka HC stays notice against YouTuber Sameer, criticizes police action

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Mar 6: The Karnataka High Court has granted an interim stay on the police notice issued to YouTuber Sameer M D over his video related to the murder and gang rape of Dharmasthala student Sowjanya.

During the hearing on Sameer’s petition challenging the notice, the court expressed displeasure over the manner in which the police had proceeded. It pointed out that legal procedures require authorities to provide a copy of the FIR along with the notice, which had not been done in this case.

The court also questioned the urgency with which the notice was issued, particularly in cases involving influential figures, and observed that the police had failed to adhere to established legal guidelines.

Following these observations, the High Court ordered an interim stay on the investigation of the case registered at the Cowl Bazar police station in Ballari.

The Soujanya case should be reopened, thoroughly probed and the culprits be punished how much ever influential they might be. The state government should show the will and the way will automatically come out. Justice delayed is justice denied.

"YouTube Sameer tried to bring the truth to light, but even after so many years, we still don't know who is behind the rape and murder of Soujanya. The law, court, and police have all failed because it's clear that no small person is behind this."
