New Delhi, Mar 27: In a historic move aimed at ensuring smooth electoral processes, the Election Commission of India (EC) has commenced the first-ever large-scale training programme for more than one lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across the country.

This massive initiative, which focuses on enhancing the efficiency and preparedness of BLOs, is designed to strengthen the grassroots-level electoral framework. According to officials, the training will cover critical aspects such as voter registration, error-free electoral rolls, accessibility for differently-abled voters, and ensuring free and fair polling procedures.

The training, being conducted in a phased manner, involves interactive sessions, digital modules, and hands-on exercises to equip BLOs with the necessary skills and knowledge. "A well-trained BLO is the backbone of a robust electoral system. This initiative will enhance their capabilities, ensuring a seamless voting experience for all citizens," an EC official stated.

The Election Commission has also integrated technology into the training process, incorporating digital tools and mobile applications to assist BLOs in their day-to-day responsibilities. The move is expected to boost voter participation and minimize discrepancies in electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.

Officials emphasized that this initiative reflects the EC’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the democratic process while ensuring transparency and efficiency at the grassroots level.
