Mangaluru, Aug 15: Rohan Corporation India Private Limited, one of Mangaluru’s leading real estate developers, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with flag-hoisting ceremonies across its landmark developments, with the principal programme held at Rohan Square, Capitanio. The occasion brought together residents, staff and the winners of the drawing competition organised as part of the Independence Day.
The national flag was hoisted by veteran agriculturist Jack Anil in the presence of Rohan Corporation’s managing director Dr Rohan Monteiro, director Dion Monteiro, general manager Sumana and special guest M K Ali, formally commencing the Independence Day celebration.
A key highlight of the programme was the felicitation of Jack Anil with the ‘Krishi Vrukshanweshaka Sadhaka’ Award, recognising his sustained efforts in promoting traditional agricultural practices, preserving indigenous varieties of jackfruit and fostering awareness of plant diversity. Through his work, he has contributed to keeping valuable agricultural knowledge and plant heritage alive for future generations.
Addressing the gathering, Rohan Monteiro, founder of Rohan Corporation, said, “Independence Day is a moment to reflect on how far our country has come and the responsibility we carry towards its future. For us at Rohan Corporation, this also means contributing to the communities we are part of and creating a positive impact beyond the spaces we build. Today is a celebration of that shared responsibility and the spirit of India.”
Dion Monteiro, director of the company, added, “Independence Day reminds us of how far India has come and the responsibility we have towards its future. The same spirit of progress must guide Mangaluru as well. As Mangaluru continues to evolve, we all have a role to play in contributing to its growth and building a city that future generations can be proud of.”
Jack Anil expressed his gratitude to Rohan Corporation for the recognition, saying, “This honour is a great encouragement for me to continue my efforts towards preserving our agricultural heritage and indigenous varieties.”
M K Ali, who joined the gathering as a special guest, said, “It is a pleasure to be here and be part of this Independence Day celebration. Seeing everyone gathered here to celebrate our nation together makes this occasion even more meaningful."
The celebration also saw the culmination of Freedom Palette 2026, the drawing competition held on the theme ‘The Coast in the Story of India'. Winners selected from the 60 finalists who competed in the final round at Rohan City, Bejai, were awarded cash prizes and certificates on stage, with jury partner Pixncil Studio evaluating the entries.
The programme was gracefully hosted by Prajna Odilnala, who seamlessly guided the event through each segment.
Flags were also hoisted at other Rohan Corporation developments, including City Square, M G Road, Ballalbagh, by advocate Azeez and Dr Padmanabha Kamath, and at High Crest, Kadri, by Surendra Pai, in the presence of residents and staff.
From the felicitation of a farmer to the recognition of young artists, the morning captured what Rohan Corporation has believed for over three decades, that a nation grows through the people who care for it, contribute to it, and help build a better tomorrow.
