Police prohibit personnel from performing on stage, streets in uniform

Panaji, Mar 28: In a bid to maintain discipline and professionalism, law enforcement authorities have issued a directive barring police personnel from participating in stage performances or street plays while in uniform.

The move comes after instances of officers engaging in public performances surfaced, raising concerns over the potential impact on the force’s image. Officials emphasized that while creative expression is encouraged, appearing in uniform outside official duties could lead to misrepresentation and diminish the dignity of the police service.

The order strictly prohibits personnel from acting in dramas, skits, or other performances in police attire without prior authorization. Any violation of the directive could result in disciplinary action.

Authorities clarified that the measure is intended to uphold the decorum of the police force while ensuring that officers remain focused on their primary responsibilities of maintaining law and order.
