Kundapur: Student’s unusual prayer for exam marks found in temple donation box

Kundapur, Mar 28: In an unusual incident, a student’s heartfelt plea for specific marks in exams was found inside a temple donation box at Hommide near Hakladi.

The request came to light on March 24 when the management of the Holmage Bobbarya Daiva Sthana opened the donation box in the presence of local residents, ten days after the temple’s annual Halu Habba and Kenda Seve rituals, which were held on March 14.

Along with monetary offerings from devotees, a handwritten letter was discovered, in which a student had meticulously listed the marks they wished to score to just pass the exams. The student had requested: Mathematics – 36-39 marks, English – 37-39, Kannada – 39-40, Science – 38-39, Hindi – 39-40, and Social Studies – 37-38.

At the top of the letter, the student had written: “I must get these marks; divine intervention of Bobbarya Daiva is my only hope.” At the bottom, they further pleaded: “Dear deity, please do not let me get anything less than this.”

The letter had no sender’s address, making it unclear whether it was written by a boy or a girl. Although no class was mentioned, it is suspected that the writer is an SSLC student appearing for the ongoing board exams.

The letter, found inside the donation box, has now gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and amusement.

May be, first time since independence, (though one think tank believe we got independence in 2014, however REAL Independence Indians got was in 1947); Nava Bharatha choose to believe & invoke divine power (faith is elevated by one notch up to reach Non-Biological (Eternal/Divine) domain)..., Learned people are welcome to take note of this & second it.

Confused..., or rather sorry to see many choose to disagree (my apologies.., if the option is marked just for the love of color)..., on the sideline, I heard of color blind.., however in this instance let me take it that some are substantive reading and/or understanding blind.

A child's prayer or anyone’s heartfelt intention is a personal conversation with God. It should be respected, not teased or turned into news. Let's honor the sincerity of prayer with the dignity it deserves.
