New Delhi, Mar 30: Strengthening relief efforts under ‘Operation Brahma,’ Indian Navy ships Karmuk and LCU 52 from the Andaman and Nicobar Command are set to sail for Yangon on Sunday to provide crucial assistance to Myanmar following the devastating earthquake.
Under the guidance of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations are being executed in collaboration with the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Adding to the efforts, naval ships Satpura and Savitri from the Eastern Naval Command had already departed for Yangon on Saturday, carrying essential relief supplies. These vessels are transporting approximately 52 tonnes of critical aid, including emergency clothing, drinking water, food, medicines, and other essential relief materials.

An official statement reaffirmed, "The Indian Navy remains steadfast in India's commitment to being the ‘First Responder’ in the region."
India has significantly scaled up its support by dispatching two C-17 aircraft carrying a 118-member Indian Army field hospital unit, inclusive of women and childcare specialists, along with 60 tonnes of relief supplies, the MEA confirmed.
MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the ongoing efforts on social media, stating, "#OperationBrahma continues. Two C-17 aircraft with 118-member Indian Army Field Hospital Unit, including Women & Child Care services and 60 tonnes of relief material have landed in Myanmar. With these, five relief flights from India have reached Myanmar today."
Additionally, another C-130 aircraft arrived in Myanmar’s capital, Nay Pyi Taw, carrying 38 NDRF personnel and 10 tonnes of relief material. "This marks the third Indian Air Force flight delivering aid to Myanmar today," Jaiswal noted in a separate social media post.
A field hospital with 118 personnel, including doctors, was also airlifted from Agra to support medical relief operations on the ground.
The 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on Friday caused widespread devastation, with the death toll rising beyond 1,644 as rescue teams continue recovering victims from collapsed buildings.
