Bengaluru, Mar 30: A court has remanded Rakesh Kadekar, accused of murdering his wife and stuffing her body in a suitcase, to 14 days of judicial custody.

The police had brought the accused to Bengaluru last night and presented him before the judge at the Koramangala NGV Magistrate Court today. Following the hearing, the court ordered Rakesh to be sent to judicial custody for 14 days. He has now been lodged at Parappana Agrahara Jail.

Rakesh called his father after murder

After killing his wife, Rakesh reportedly broke her legs to fit the body inside a trolley bag. While dragging the suitcase, its handle broke, forcing him to abandon the bag and flee in his car.

The body of Gauri Kadekar, originally from Maharashtra and residing in Bengaluru with her husband, was discovered inside a suitcase on Thursday.

Following the murder, Rakesh called Gauri’s parents to inform them about the incident before fleeing to Pune, where he allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison.

Speaking about the case, Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda confirmed that a case has been registered and that the woman's husband is the prime accused in the investigation.
