Three arrested for burglary at residence in Byndoor

Byndoor, Apr 1: Byndoor police have arrested three individuals for breaking into a house and stealing gold jewelry while the homeowners were away attending a Yakshagana performance.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Yatiraj and Mahesh Yalajit from Uppunda, and Kartik from Naguru.

On March 10, Janardhan, a resident of Bappehaklu in Uppunda village, had locked his house and left with his family to attend a Yakshagana event. When they returned around 1 AM, they found that the door had been broken open and valuables, including gold and silver jewelry, cash, and a laptop, had been stolen.

Following a complaint at Byndoor Police Station, an investigation was launched. Under the leadership of Byndoor circle inspector Savitratheja and PSI Thimmesh B N, a police team including officers Chidanand, Malappa, Parayya Mathapathi, Naveen, and officials Ravindra, Ashok Rathod, Shankar, and Chandra apprehended the accused.

During the investigation, the police recovered the stolen gold jewelry, a laptop, and the mobile phones used by the suspects during the crime. The total value of the recovered goods is estimated to be approximately Rs 3 lac.

The accused have been presented before the court for further legal proceedings.
