Rameswaram, Apr 6: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, speaking at a public event, called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to publicly address and alleviate the anxieties of the Tamil Nadu populace regarding the proposed delimitation exercise. He further requested the Prime Minister to facilitate the passage of a parliamentary resolution guaranteeing the preservation of Tamil Nadu's rights.

Following the inauguration of several development projects and the announcement of new initiatives for the popular tourist destination, Stalin revealed his efforts to secure an audience with the Prime Minister to present a memorandum outlining the state's delimitation concerns.

"We have requested an appointment to submit a memorandum concerning the delimitation issue. Within the next few moments, our Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in Rameswaram for various events. Given my participation in this government function, I have communicated my inability to attend his meeting and have deputed Ministers Thangam Thennarasu and Raja Kannappan in my stead. Through this gathering, and through you, I implore the Prime Minister to dispel the fears surrounding delimitation," Stalin addressed the audience.

"You (Modi) must also ensure that a resolution is passed in Parliament to safeguard our rights. This (delimitation) raises concerns not only about the potential reduction of Parliamentary seats but also about our future, which we have a right to question," he emphasized.

"Including Puducherry, we currently have 40 Parliamentary seats. However, the ruling BJP government is attempting to diminish our representation through delimitation," he alleged.

Stalin highlighted the Joint Action Committee meeting on fair delimitation, convened in Chennai on March 22, which saw the participation of Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, and prominent leaders representing diverse political ideologies from across India.
