Bijnor, Apr 8: A railway employee was allegedly murdered by his wife through strangulation in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district, police said on Tuesday. The shocking incident bears eerie resemblance to the recent Meerut case, where a merchant navy officer was killed by his wife and her lover.
The victim, Deepak, was found dead at his rented accommodation in Adarsh Nagar, Najibabad. Initially, his wife Shivani claimed that he had suffered a heart attack and informed Deepak’s brother Piyush about his hospitalisation. However, suspicions arose after Piyush found Deepak already dead upon reaching the hospital.

Police said Shivani allegedly tried to portray the death as natural, but foul play was revealed in the post-mortem report, which confirmed death by strangulation.
The couple had married around a year-and-a-half ago after a courtship and had a six-month-old daughter, reports said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanjeev Vajpayee confirmed that Shivani has been detained for questioning. “The post-mortem clearly revealed strangulation. Preliminary findings suggest she may have given him sleeping pills before committing the act,” the officer added.
The case took another turn when Deepak’s uncle, Vishal, raised suspicions of a possible second person’s involvement. “She didn’t act alone. We don’t know if the motive was financial or something else, but Shivani is responsible. We demand strict punishment,” he said.
Further investigations are underway to determine the full scope of the crime and any additional conspirators involved.
