Mangaluru, Apr 11: Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, NITTE (Deemed to be University) in collaboration with Project Vriddhi, successfully conducted an executive development programme on first aid management in emergencies of school children at Nazareth CBSC Central School, Balmatta.
The initiative aimed to enhance teachers' knowledge and preparedness in managing emergency health situations among school children. A total of 30 teachers, along with the school’s Principal and PTA president, actively participated in the programme.





















The day-long event began with registration at, followed by a warm welcome from principal Sr Marceline D’Souza. Prof Sujatha R, head of the Child Health Nursing Department, provided an insightful overview of the programme’s objectives.
The resource persons conducted informative sessions covering vital topics such as first aid management for epilepsy, unconsciousness, choking, drowning, electric shock, and bleeding. Practical demonstrations were also carried out, showcasing essential techniques including airway management, choking relief, bleeding control, CPR, and the stabilization of fractures.
Participants underwent a pre-test and post-test assessment, which reflected a significant improvement in their understanding and application of first aid procedures.
The programme concluded with a hands-on re-demonstration session, reinforcing key techniques. Attendees expressed heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to gain practical, life-saving skills.
