Maruti Suzuki unveils e VITARA at Rs 10.99 lac under BaaS model

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 17: Maruti Suzuki India Limited on Tuesday announced the introductory pricing of its much-awaited electric SUV, the e VITARA, marking its formal entry into the electric mobility segment.

The e VITARA will be available at a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, with battery usage charged separately at Rs 3.99 per kilometre. Full variant-wise pricing details are yet to be disclosed.

The SUV, unveiled in December 2025 as the company’s first fully electric model, is offered in three variants — Delta, Zeta and Alpha — with two battery pack options of 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The Delta variant gets the smaller battery, while the higher trims feature the larger pack. The vehicle claims a driving range of up to 543 km on a single charge.

Production of the e VITARA began in August 2025, and nearly 13,000 units were exported to 28 countries by the end of the year. The model has been developed under parent firm Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation, and is being manufactured in India for both domestic and international markets.

Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi earlier stated that the company decided to enter the EV segment only after preparing both the product and the supporting ecosystem.

To address range anxiety, the company has established over 2,000 charging points across 1,100 cities, including the top 100 cities with high EV penetration. It has also partnered with 13 charge point operators and aggregators to expand public charging access. On the launch day itself, 2,000 chargers were set to go live.

Looking ahead, the company plans to scale up to around one lakh charging stations by 2030 in partnership with dealers and charging operators, in line with Suzuki’s broader electrification roadmap.

In addition to the BaaS model, Maruti Suzuki is offering subscription plans and an assured buyback programme. The SUV’s body structure uses over 60 percent ultra-high and high-tensile steel, and the battery pack features an energy-absorbing mounting system aimed at enhancing safety.
