Moodbidri, Apr 18: With the aim of nurturing young talent through training, recognition and a platform for growth, a new forum ‘Rang-Tarang’ of the Moodbidri deanery was launched at Our Lady of Rosary Church, Alangar-Moodbidri on Sunday, April 14 at 6:15 pm.
Well-known artiste, journalist and founder of Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd, Walter Nandalike, inaugurated the forum and stressed the importance of art in human life. He said that an artiste has the power to uplift even the most discouraged soul, and urged parents to encourage their children in creative pursuits. He expressed confidence that Rang-Tarang would play a meaningful role in shaping society.
























Fr Ronald D'Souza, parish priest of Gantalkatte and director of Rang-Tarang, opened the programme with a prayer.
Founder Lloyd Rego of Taccode welcomed the gathering with an introduction and presented the forum’s title song, which he penned himself. It was sung by Nihal Tauro with music composed by Roshan Angelore.
Co-founders Alwyn Menezes, Avil D'Souza, Manohar Cutinha, and Sunil Miranda, along with 42 founding members, were felicitated by Walter Nandalike with a ceremonial Rang-Tarang shawl.
Fr Melwyn Noronha, parish priest of Alangar, honoured the sponsors of the programme and encouraged children and youth to engage in art and cultural activities to overcome challenges such as anxiety and depression. He expressed hope that Rang-Tarang would become a positive force in this direction.
Fr Onil D'Souza, dean of Moodbidri, launched the official Rang-Tarang website and highlighted the need for opportunities that enhance talents. He invoked divine blessings for the success of the forum.
A brass band performance by children of Moodbidri parish added energy and colour to the celebration.
The inaugural event was followed by a religious drama, Salomi, translated to Konkani by Fr Dr Alwyn Serrao and performed by parishioners of Gantalkatte.
Avil D'Souza delivered the vote of thanks, Sunil Miranda read the list of donors, and Manohar Cutinha compered the programme.
Also present on the dais were Edward Serrao, vice president of Alangar pastoral council, and Rajesh D'Souza, convenor of the 21 commissions.
The event concluded with dinner and was attended by a crowd of nearly a thousand.
