Bengaluru, Apr 22: A serving Indian Air Force officer had alleged a brutal attack on him and his wife in Bengaluru in a case of road rage gone awry on April 21. However, the incident which had initially sparked widespread outrage, has taken a new turn with emerging video evidence suggesting that both parties were involved in the altercation. The alleged attack, which took place early April 21 morning in CV Raman Nagar, involved Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose and his wife Squadron Leader Madhumita Bose, and a biker identified as Vikas Kumar, a software engineer.
The incident gained attention after Wing Commander Bose, bloodied and injured, posted a video online narrating how a biker stopped their car, abused them in Kannada, and attacked him after noticing a DRDO sticker on their vehicle. "The moment I got out of my car, the biker hit me with a key on my forehead, and there was blood," he said in the video, expressing frustration over what he perceived as apathy from local police. "This is what Karnataka has become... God help us," he added.

The officer’s wife, who was driving him to the airport, later lodged a police complaint stating that the biker was riding rashly and almost hit their car. She said he then stopped the vehicle and began hurling abuses. She alleged the biker hit her husband with a stone and made threatening remarks, including, “This is Kannada land. I will see you.”
However, newly-surfaced CCTV footage and bystander videos revealed a more complex scenario. In one clip, Wing Commander Bose is seen pushing the biker and grabbing him by the neck, while his wife attempts to stop him. As the situation escalated, the officer allegedly punched the biker, who fell to the ground and retaliated with a kick. Locals intervened to break up the scuffle.
According to deputy commissioner of police (East) Devaraj D, the incident was not one-sided and is being treated as a case of road rage. “An altercation took place between the couple and a biker. Both parties attacked each other,” he clarified, dismissing claims that it was a Kannada vs non-Kannada issue. “This is not about locals versus outsiders,” he added.
The accused, Vikas Kumar, has also filed a counter-complaint, claiming that he was merely reacting after being provoked by a remark from the woman in the car. He said he approached the officer only to ask, “What is madam saying?”, which led to an argument and the physical confrontation.
Police confirmed that at least four different video footages from the scene have been collected as evidence. Wing Commander Bose, who sustained injuries to his face and head, was advised to seek medical attention before filing the FIR. Since he was travelling, Squadron Leader Madhumita later completed the formal complaint process.
Investigations are ongoing, and both sides are being questioned. The Indian Air Force has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
Authorities continue to probe the case, urging the public not to jump to conclusions based on viral social media narratives.
