Mumbai, Apr 30: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday emphasized the state’s pivotal role in shaping India’s development trajectory and called for collective effort to transform Maharashtra into a global model of prosperity. His remarks came on the eve of Maharashtra Day and International Workers' Day, observed on May 1.
In a message to citizens, Fadnavis extended warm greetings and paid tribute to iconic figures such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Savitribai Phule, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, acknowledging their immense contributions to the state’s formation and values.
“On this day, we remember the martyrs whose sacrifices led to the creation of Maharashtra. The state has always stood tall with its contributions in economic, cultural, social, and political spheres,” the Chief Minister stated.
Highlighting the achievements of Maharashtra over the past 65 years, he said the state has made remarkable progress in fields ranging from industry and agriculture to education, healthcare, sports, and literature. “Marathi language and culture form the core of our identity, and it is our responsibility to safeguard this rich heritage for future generations,” he added.
Fadnavis also underlined Maharashtra’s legacy as a land of valor, reform, and talent. “This is a land that embodies knowledge, strength, sacrifice, and innovation. Our disciplined society, law and order, rich natural resources, and hard-working youth have carved Maharashtra’s identity on the global map,” he said.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive growth, he called upon citizens to join hands in building a safe, prosperous, and progressive Maharashtra.
Acknowledging the role of workers on Labour Day, the Chief Minister said, “The working class has played a vital role in the industrial and socio-economic development of our state. We are committed to protecting their rights and ensuring their welfare.”
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also released a statement on Maharashtra’s 66th Foundation Day, urging people to uphold the state’s image as a “civilized and progressive” society. “Let us preserve the spirit of unity and continue Maharashtra’s forward march in all sectors — agriculture, industry, trade, education, health, and cooperation,” he said.
Pawar also credited the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for its developmental support and appealed for continued public cooperation to propel Maharashtra into its next chapter of growth.
