Bhopal, Aug 18: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged that sustained mental cruelty by model-actress Twisha Sharma's husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh drove her to die by suicide, leaving her with “no choice except to end her life”.
The allegations were made in a nearly 1,000-page chargesheet filed before Special Court Judge Shobhana Bhalavi in Bhopal. The CBI has charged Samarth and his mother, a former district judge, with abetment to suicide.
The chargesheet cites counselling records, WhatsApp messages and statements of witnesses among the evidence gathered during the investigation.

According to CBI officials, both accused allegedly subjected Twisha to sustained mental harassment and cruelty. The agency has alleged that the treatment left her with no option but to take her own life.
Twisha's family had previously accused her husband and in-laws of mental and physical abuse and alleged that she was subjected to torture over dowry demands.
However, the CBI has kept its investigation into allegations relating to dowry demands and dowry death open. The agency is also awaiting some forensic science laboratory reports.
Twisha, 33, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12, barely five months after she married Samarth on December 9, 2025. Samarth took her to AIIMS Bhopal that night, where she was declared brought dead.
The CBI subsequently took over the investigation and arrested Samarth and Giribala. Both are currently in judicial custody in Bhopal.
Twisha's family welcomed the chargesheet, saying it contains detailed evidence regarding the alleged cruelty she faced and identifies the alleged roles of both accused.
The family's lawyers said additional charges, including alleged tampering with evidence, could be added and that more people could be named as the investigation progresses.
The investigation followed allegations by Twisha's family that she had faced domestic violence, mental harassment and dowry-related torture at her marital home.
Concerns were also raised over the initial autopsy. The Madhya Pradesh High Court subsequently ordered a second post-mortem examination by a four-member team from AIIMS Delhi.
Giribala has since approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking bail.
The CBI's chargesheet marks a significant development in the case, although the agency's investigation into the dowry-related allegations remains ongoing.
