Kasargod, Jan 21: Mohammed Nangi (53) from Mogral in the district, who was among the crew of a ship who were held captive by Somalian pirates, returned to the cozy environs of his family on Friday January 20.

Although he was released on January 12, he had to spend some days in Salalah and Mumbai due to some technical problems.

Oil-cum-chemical carrier, MT Fairchem Bogey, owned by a Mumbai-based company, had been hijacked from near Salalah port. A total of 21 crew of the said ship had been held captive by the pirates.
Nangi, upon reaching his home safely, said that his release was possible because of the prayers of friends and relatives, efforts made by the company, and support extended by the media.

A large crowd of relatives, friends, and media persons were waiting when Nangi came home on Friday evening. He was escorted home by his wife, who had gone to Mumbai to receive him, and son, who is employed in Mumbai. His safe return has given rise to festive mood at his home, ‘Green Park’ in Mogral.
