Mangalore, Jan 21: Deekshitha, an eighth std student who was stranded in third floor of her school building after the fire broke out was not at all panicky as three fire extinguishing vans came in no time for her rescue.
The fire brigade sprung into action soon, one among them put up a flexible ladder to reach her and placed her on a safe ‘knot’ and rolled her down through a rope. Immediately she was admitted to a hospital with a help of ambulance of Lady Goshen hospital.
All these courageous work performed by firemen thrilled the children as it was different learning experience for the school and college students of Padua Educational Institutions from their routine class room lessons.
Deekshitha said though it scared her a bit while the fire personnel tied her through rope, later when she rolled down slowly it felt comfortable and gives a different adventurous experience.
Likewise her classmate Anushree had a chuckle in her face after the stunt and said it feels safe and was thrilled to roll down from the third floor just with a help of rope.
All this was possible at the National level fire and evacuation drill organized at the campus of Padua Educational Institutions, Nantoor here on Saturday January 21. The programme was organized to create awareness amongst the school and college students and staff in collaboration with Mangalore chief fire officer.
