New Delhi, May 15: The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued notices to Amazon India, Flipkart, Ubuy India, Etsy, The Flag Company, and The Flag Corporation after it was found that these platforms were selling Pakistani national flags and related merchandise. This move comes amid heightened patriotic sentiment following India’s recent Operation Sindoor, a military strike against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, called the listings “insensitive” and confirmed that the platforms were directed to remove all such items immediately. He emphasized that national symbols of Pakistan being available for sale to Indian consumers would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The flagged merchandise included items such as flags and accessories featuring Pakistani emblems, openly available to Indian buyers. The Consumer Affairs Ministry warned all e-commerce businesses to align their listings with national sentiment and existing laws.
The crackdown follows a formal complaint by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), which described the online sale of Pakistani flags as a grave insult to India’s armed forces and a threat to national unity. CAIT leaders demanded a full ban, investigation, and strict action against those responsible for allowing such content to appear on Indian platforms.
The incident has sparked widespread debate about the responsibilities of online marketplaces and the importance of cultural and national sensitivity in digital commerce.
