Ningbo, May 22: Bulgarian saffron and Croatian tuna were granted access to the Chinese market on Thursday, expanding the range of imported agricultural and food products from Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) available to Chinese consumers.
The approvals were announced at the fourth China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair, held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province.
According to China’s General Administration of Customs (GAC), a total of 126 types of agricultural and food products from CEECs now have market access in China. Recent efforts to streamline approval processes and boost customs clearance efficiency have facilitated easier entry for CEEC delicacies such as Polish amber beer and Latvian canned fish.
GAC deputy chief Zhao Zenglian highlighted that China-CEEC cooperation is providing stability and dynamism to the global economy amid complex international challenges.
Bilateral trade between China and CEECs reached $142.27 billion in 2024, a 6.3 percent increase year-on-year, surpassing China’s overall trade growth by 2.5 percentage points.
