South Carolina, May 26: A shooting near a boat dock in western South Carolina left at least 11 people hospitalized during the Memorial Day weekend, authorities confirmed.

The incident took place late Sunday evening, May 25, near a docked charter boat where a private Memorial Day gathering was underway. The Horry County Police Department reported that the shooting reportedly stemmed from an argument among attendees.

At least 10 victims suffered gunshot wounds, with several in critical but stable condition. First responders transported 11 victims to local hospitals, while others arrived on their own. Police described the shooting as an ‘isolated incident’ and assured the public that there is ‘no risk to the community at this time.’

Authorities have not confirmed any arrests yet but are actively working to identify those responsible.

Separately, a North Myrtle Beach police officer sustained a leg injury after accidentally discharging their weapon while responding to a different call in the Little River area. The officer was hospitalized and is currently in stable condition. Officials confirmed no other injuries were reported and that there is no ongoing public safety threat.

Law enforcement praised the swift response of medical teams and supporting agencies during the chaotic holiday weekend.
