Kolkata, May 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that Operation Sindoor, the military offensive launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, is still ongoing, and warned that any future provocations will be met with even stronger retaliation.
Addressing a public rally in Alipurduar, West Bengal, the Prime Minister spoke firmly about the Indian Armed Forces' decisive actions against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “Those responsible for the Pahalgam massacre have already witnessed the power of Operation Sindoor. We struck them not once, but thrice, on their own soil. And I say clearly—this operation is not over. If there’s another attack, the price will be far greater,” Modi declared to a cheering crowd.
He referred to the April 22 Pahalgam incident, in which several tourists were killed in a terror strike, saying it had deeply angered the people of West Bengal, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering justice through military strength.

Expanding on the broader issue of cross-border terrorism, Modi took direct aim at Pakistan, accusing it of being a perpetual sponsor of terror since its formation. “Pakistan has nothing to contribute to the world except terrorism. Since 1947, they’ve spread violence—not just in India, but also in what became Bangladesh. The world remembers the atrocities, rapes, and murders committed by Pakistani forces. Terror and genocide have been the weapons of their army,” he said.
The Prime Minister also touched on the challenges of conventional conflict with Pakistan. “They know they can’t win in a direct war, so they resort to terror. But India’s message after Pahalgam is loud and clear—those who mastermind terror will be held accountable, and the response will be devastating.”
Highlighting the importance of West Bengal in India’s progress, Modi said, “A strong India is not possible without a strong Bengal. That’s why the Centre has invested thousands of crores for Bengal’s development over the past decade.”
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister laid the foundation for the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar, underlining the government’s continued push for infrastructure and energy development in the region.
With a sharp national security message and strong regional development pitch, Modi’s address marks a strategic statement ahead of the next phase of the general elections.
