New Delhi, Aug 14: Instagram has unveiled an updated version of its wordmark logo, giving the social media platform's familiar branding a refreshed and more contemporary appearance after nearly a decade.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the change on Instagram and Threads, describing the redesigned wordmark as sharper and more modern while retaining elements of the platform's original identity.

The updated wordmark continues to use Instagram's recognisable script style, but features redesigned letterforms. The company has retained the simplicity and visual character associated with the brand while making subtle changes to the typography.
Instagram's last major visual identity overhaul came in 2016, when the company replaced its classic brown camera logo with the colourful gradient icon that remains in use today.
Mosseri said the wordmark had remained unchanged for 10 years and that the refresh was intended to make it cleaner and more modern while retaining references to the original design.
The redesign has received mixed reactions online. While some users welcomed the change, others criticised the updated lettering.
Several users also joked that the new wordmark appeared to read differently, with some pointing to the redesigned shape of the letter 'r'.
