North Carolina, Jun 1: A late-night party near Hickory, North Carolina, turned tragic on Sunday when gunfire erupted, leaving one person dead and 11 others wounded, local authorities reported.

Deputies responded to a call at around 12:45 am. at a residence approximately 60 miles northwest of Charlotte, according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, as cited by the New York Post.

Emergency crews found that 12 people had sustained gunshot wounds. One person was declared dead at the scene, and another remains in critical condition. Officials have not yet shared updates on the conditions of the other victims.

No arrests have been made, and investigators have not released any information about potential suspects or a motive.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting local law enforcement and the sheriff’s office with the ongoing probe.
