US, Jun 5: In a deeply disturbing case that has shaken West Virginia, a 27-year-old stepfather has been charged with first-degree murder and child abuse leading to death after admitting to fatally injuring his 17-month-old baby boy.

The accused, Zachary Williams, confessed to throwing the crying infant “out of frustration,” causing a severe skull fracture that proved fatal. The horrifying incident took place on May 25 at a residence in Jane Lew, approximately 100 miles northeast of Charleston.

According to reports, Williams hurled the baby onto a bed frame and floor during a moment of rage. Emergency responders were alerted after the child stopped breathing. Despite efforts by paramedics, the toddler was declared dead at the hospital shortly after.

Court documents reveal Williams acknowledged his role in the tragedy, admitting that the baby became "rigid and limp" after being bounced and thrown. “It was all my fault,” he reportedly told investigators.

The baby’s mother told officers that her son had been unwell with a cold but was otherwise “completely fine” earlier that morning. She denied any form of regular drug or alcohol use in the household, stating she only occasionally used Delta-8 cannabinoid products when away from home.

The child’s grandparents, when questioned, reportedly stated that they did not suspect neglect by either parent.

An autopsy revealed that the boy had suffered a severe skull fracture to the back of his head, believed to be caused by blunt force trauma. Police have ruled out other significant injuries.

Zachary Williams is currently being held without bail at the Central Regional Jail, as investigations continue into the heartbreaking case.
