Kanker, Jun 14: In a heart-wrenching incident, three minor siblings died after reportedly being fed poison-laced food by their parents in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district. The couple, who allegedly consumed the poison themselves after serving it to their children, are in critical condition, police said on Saturday.

According to preliminary investigations, the tragic incident occurred on Friday night when a 36-year-old man and his wife allegedly mixed poison in the children’s dinner. The victims, aged 6, 9, and 12, died shortly after. The couple is currently undergoing treatment at Pakhanjore Civil Hospital.

Neighbours rushed the couple to hospital and alerted the police. Locals have informed authorities that the family was under severe financial stress.

Police have begun further investigation into the matter.
