Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 15: In a rare and unexpected development, a British F-35 fighter jet made an emergency landing at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in Kerala on Saturday.
Sources revealed that the advanced stealth aircraft is part of the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy fleet, currently deployed in the Indo-Pacific region aboard the HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier.

The emergency landing, though unconfirmed in its cause, took place during routine operations, shortly after the carrier group's joint naval drills with the Indian Navy in the Arabian Sea.
Airport authorities, along with Indian defence personnel, swiftly ensured the safety of the aircraft and its pilot. No casualties or damages have been reported.
The sudden landing drew curiosity from onlookers at the airport, as it is uncommon for such a high-end military aircraft to touch down on a civilian runway in India.
Further details regarding the nature of the emergency and the current status of the aircraft remain awaited from official defence sources.
