Udupi, Jan 26: The CPI (M) district committee staged a protest in front of Sri Krishna Mutt opposing the discrimination in the dining and caste system, as part of the statewide protest call by the state CPI (M) on Thursday January 26.

Addressing the gathering of protestors at martyrs’ memorial on Ajjarkad Grounds at 11 am on Thursday, CPI (M) state secretary G V Sriram Reddy said that caste system prevails in different forms in every celebration at various temples across the state.

"CPI (M) believes in equality among people in the society. It is against caste system in every form. The systematically planned recent attacks on the minority are an attempt by vested interests to cover up their wrong deeds. The people do not voice their grievances against vested interests. Driven by blind beliefs people are becoming victims of caste discrimination, sacrifice for dignity, and social evil of rolling over leftovers of the upper caste," Reddy said.

He further added, "A few people are projecting the minority community as 'thieves' in their speeches. BJP leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat deserves imprisonment for trying to instigate communal disturbance through his speech at the recently held Hindu Samajotsava at Uppinangady. CPI (M) will protest social injustice, whereever it may be."

CPI (M) chief secretary C N Nagaraj urged the state administration to curb all forms of evil practices in the state. "The state administration has been trying to cause divisions among the students on the basis of religion by introducing studies on Bhagavad Gita in schools. A few political parties such as BJP and RSS are treading the path of destruction without knowing the virtues of Hinduism. CPI (M) stands committed to curbing caste system in all its forms," he added.

The state CPI (M) executive committee president B Madhav said that CPI (M) is the hope of those who are victims of caste system. "Equality among the people is our objective," he said.

CPI (M) women’s wing president K Neela said that CPI (M) always takes the grievances of the working class without prejudices of caste, creed, and religion.

Vasant Achary proposed the vote of thanks. S Y Gurushanti compered the programme.

Is it mean that those struggling for good cause are called unemployed? Totally wrong consumption. Communism spread all over the world wherever the people suffered, exploited and suppresed the communist will struggle against it. Whether it is South Africa, Latin America European countries communist struggle against discrimination, exploitation and suppression. No need to teach communists where to go and what to do without knowing their basic principles.

Mr praveen, if you say Brahmin community has divided society and all nonBrahmin hindus should unite there is no fool like you on the earth. How Brahmins can divide the society and country. Many scientists Doctors engineers industrialists have contributed to the nation. Why dont you take the lead in organising nonBrahmin Hindu union. In Tamilnadu Periyar struggled for fifty years very hard to suppress Brahmins but the movement could not succeed. No caste is great or low. It is people like you sowing seeds of discrimination.

Dear Praveen, I agree with you. Would like to mention that in any temple (what some people say"Brahmin Owned")if everyone has noticed only during dining Brahmins are the first to have and seated in different place, where as all other comunities take part in Organising activities, collecting funds, controlling public etc. Firstly I would like to thank Bunts who take these responsibilities. Specially when there is fund raising activities we never find any brahmins taking part. This is really shocking and you can see the same in every temple. '

As Dr. kamath has mentioned in the Hotels they sit and drink with even Dalits and ready to eat any food prepared by unknown persons. This has to be stopped now. If they continue to do this we have to practise the same things in other places such as Hotels, Parks and other public places. I request Sri Rama Sene to take actions in these type of cases instead of following political parties and creating violence.

The Brahmin community has divided the society in the name of caste creed religion customs since ancient ages. Now they are engaged in dividing the country. It is high time non brahmin hindus raise a strong voice and bring down the supremacy of the Brahmins.

I dont support any political parties. But what CPI(M) has mentioned discrimination in Dining, I totally support for that, as this has happened in many temples where people are made to leave the dining room in the middle of lunch as they are Non brahmins. Incident in Kunjalgiri which has recently happened is a real example. We have to stop this in temples such as Krishna Mutt as people from all over the world come to the temple for Darshana and dining.

Seperate sitting for eating is within the Temple only not in a Hotel ,School ,College isnt it ? Then why bother .Same Brahmins if they go to hotel are ready to sit with even a Dalit and eat together and even ready to eat the food prepared by non-brahmins and then why all these hulla -gulla ?

Those who talk about Hindu religions caste system should visit South Africa .Blacks were treated in the past worts than animals by Christian whites .Great Mahatma Gandhi got inspiration to fight and stated fighting against untouchability first from South Africa and not from India .Now those blacks in South africa are Chistians still they feel inferior to Whites .This I have seen having gone there personally.Where as in India no Dalits will feel now inferior they are being posted to high positions

It pains to read castism still exists in India after so many years of independence.CPI (M) is opening their eyes too late or trying to politicize. Most of the temples belong to certain community which changed to public over the years but some privilege is given to the community of the temple. I do not think this is discrimination. It is just a privilege given to the community of the temple. Also practice of rolling over the Banana leaves is not forced on lower or higher class/community which has come through tradition. But this practice could be stopped or abolished if general public agrees.
I am sorry to say that even some of the churches in India' Dalit/lower christians are not allowed or kept seperate place to pray but it is very few. Even western countries blacks are discriminated going to some of the Churches.

Hinduism is a very good religion, but for the bad practices which exists even today. One should appreciate the efforts of CPM who is not blindly guided by self interests like other practices. They have indentified a just and appropriate cause. All the so called promoters of Hindu faith should pay their attention in reforming this great religion and rid itself of some of the evils that has infested it. One should only visit to the great temple towns of Mathura and Vridavan to realise the filth, corruption and the domination of middlemen on the affairs of the temples there. I wish someone paid real attention in ridding these temples of corrupt practices.

This is true that Krishna temple is the center of Partiality. They serve quality good food for Brahmins or upper caste. They serve low quality food and they made them to sit seperately. This is inhuman activity of the mutt should be condemned. They serve special food for upper caste people. Why this descrimination?

Krishna math is serving free food to all as per their custom. Caste system is not illegal in India. it is part of Hindu religion. Who are the CPI-M to decide on temple practices.
Let them go and protest before a church or mosque as they have have their own practices differenciating between different sets within them.

What are communists doing in temple town? I thought communists don't believe in gods or religious institutions. How come sudden love to eat food in temple by these atheists?

Looking at sudden protest against "made snana" and now this it will be interesting to find who is funding these protests and what is their intent. Next they will demand anyone walking on the road should be able to enter divine sanctum (garbha gudi) and do pooja.

Will a Church or Mosque allow such thing? Even in Church or Mosques there are certain practices followed and not anyone can simply walk in and demand they be accommodated.

Just because brahmins are timid people these forces are targeting them.

These commies do not believe in God. They are doing this drama for their existence.
These are matters of faith, if they break the tradition, let them face the consequences.
Of late it has become a fashion to come and protest in Udupi for cheap publicity, but people have ruined their career in public life by hurting the sentiments of people of Udupi. ( siddaramaiah, Vishwanath in kanaka gopura episode, raitha sangha self d president kodihalli are few examples, now it is the turn of these naxal supporters!)

Allowing caste discrimination to persist is shameful. The cast system may be outlawed in India. But legislation is poorly impimented.
For years the Govt of India has opposed efforts to place the issue of cast discrimination on the agenda of the international community.
This attitude is counterproductive as it would be to India's advantage to support such efforts and take the lead in the global struggle against a form of discrimination which effects an estimated poeple of the India. Improve the country's unimpressive human rights record and give hope to millions of victims of cast discrimination.

CPI(M) need not show that it is the only secular party in India and they are the only against caste system.all parties are secular and against casteism. Udupi mutt have not invited you for bhojana. For any devotee they provide meals. They have pankti bhoj which has been a tradition. They are following practice and keping some sanctity. If Anyone is not interested they can stay away from mutt. How CPI(m) does not believe in Hindu temples and gods, why are they worried about temple practices. Just by raising this issue they cant get vote and come to power. Rememeber you are kept out of power in Bengal and Kerala.

Kalladka prabhakar followers should think twice. he utilize the poor people and keep them far away if it comes to temple etc. Prabhakar first correct our own community.. give all equal priority. You spoiled the good image of hindus in mangalore district. Calling your full name may hurt peace loving whole hearted good people of this place.

VERY GOOD IDEOLOGY PUT FORWARD BY CPI(M).

BUT HOW MANY TAKERS ARE WILLING?

ALL KNOW THAT POLITICAL WEAKNESS AT SOME POINT LEADS TO MISDOINGS IN THE NAME OF RELIGION.

CPI(M) HAS RIGHTLY CONDEMNED KPB AND HIS MOTIVES REMOTE CONTROLLED FROM ELSEWHERE.

THIS INSTIGATION IS NOT TO PROVOKE MINORITIES BUT TO RE-ATTRACT DISGUSTED MAJORITY IN THE MAJORITIES.

LOOK AT THE NAMES OF THE SPEAKERS, ALL SEEM TO BE FROM MAJORITY.

LET THERE BE ANOTHER 30 YEARS ADDED TO HISTORY.

SEE THE NEXT GENERATION IF THERE WILL BE MAJORITY OR MINORITY.

I FEEL IT WILL BE ONLY TWO CATEGORIES OF HUMANS, ONE WHO BELIEVE IN GOD AND ANOTHER WHO DO NOT.

ALL THESE KPBS, MUTALIKS AND THOGADIAS WILL DISAPPEAR IN THIN AIR.

IF THEY CONTINUE IN THE SAME FASHION ONE DAY THEIR OWN PEOPLE WILL RESENT THEM.
