Gopalakrishna Public Trust Gokul concludes Tala-Maddale week

Mumbai (RBI), Jun 16: As part of the centenary celebrations of Gopalakrishna Public Trust Gokul, Sion, and the BSKB Association, a week-long Tala-Maddale programme held from Monday, June 9 to Sunday, June 15, concluded successfully on June 15.

Hosted at the sanctum of Lord Gopalakrishna at Gokul, the event featured seasoned orators from the native region, renowned bhagavatars, and accompanying artists who presented Sri Krishna Kathamrutam under various episodes throughout the week. These included Sri Krishnavatarana–Kamsa Vadha, Rukmini Swayamvara, Narakasura Vadha, Magadha Vadha, Satva Parikshe, Sri Krishna Sandhana, and Sudarshana Darshana—each offering a vivid portrayal of Lord Krishna’s multifaceted persona.

The bhagavatars Satyanarayan Puninchittaya, Chinmaya Bhat (Kalladka), and Ravichandra Kannadikatte rendered the performances with melodious voices. Mridangam was played by Manimunda Subrahmanya Shastri and Chaitanyakrishna Padyana; chende by Murari Kadambalittaya and Ramaprakash Kalluraya; and chakratala was handled by local Yakshagana artiste H Lakshminarayan. The arthadharis (interpreters) included Sunnambala Vishweshwara Bhat, Vasudeva Ranga Bhat (Madhur), Pashupati Shastri (Shirankallu), Dr Shivakumar Alagodu, Sarpangala Eshwara Bhat, Shriramana Acharya (Karkala), and Puttige Balakrishna Bhat.

The valedictory function was held under the presidency of Dr Suresh Rao. Vice presidents Avinash Shastri and Vaman Holla, general secretary Anantapadmanabha Poti, treasurer Haridas Bhat, members of the board of trustees including B Ramananda Rao, Jagadeeshchandra Kumar, R Lakshmish Bhat, and members of the Tala-Maddale troupe were present.

President and office-bearers, including former president K Subbanna Rao, Vedamurti Subrahmanya Aithal, Hari Bhat, and Ramavithala Kalluraya felicitated the performers with shawls and mementoes.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Suresh S Rao expressed gratitude to the artistes for their insightful interpretations of Sri Krishna Kathamrutam over the seven days, stating that their profound knowledge and articulate presentations had enriched the audience’s understanding.

Veteran orators Sunnambala Vishweshwara Bhat and Vasudeva Ranga Bhat commended the institution for inviting them from their hometowns and offering all necessary arrangements to ensure the seamless and meaningful execution of the week-long programme. They extended heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire team to the organisers.

Later, chief guests on the dais honoured the sponsors of the Tala-Maddale week, U R Bhat and Usha Bhat, with shawls and mementoes. Haridas Bhat delivered the vote of thanks. Light refreshments were arranged daily for the audience attending the cultural sessions throughout the week.
