Bhopal, Jun 22: Two brazen kidnapping incidents in Madhya Pradesh — one in Alirajpur district and another in Chhatarpur — have sparked outrage and raised serious questions about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Both abductions, caught on camera, unfolded in broad daylight and have gone viral on social media.
In Sumeri village under Lavkushnagar police limits of Chhatarpur district, a woman and her two children were forcefully abducted from their home on Saturday afternoon. The attackers, led by Sanjay Singh Rajput — reportedly the son of dreaded dacoit Panchu Lodhi — arrived with a dozen armed men, fired shots, and dragged 26-year-old Mithlesh and her two children into a waiting vehicle.

Mithlesh’s husband, Hariram Prajapati, tried to stop the abductors but was brutally beaten. "Sanjay had been stalking my wife. When I warned him, he returned with his men and took her away," Hariram told the media. He is currently under treatment at a local hospital.
Disturbing visuals of the incident show armed men threatening locals and forcing the mother and her children into a car. Police have seized a Bolero and a motorcycle used in the crime, detained two suspects, and launched a search across over 25 locations. Chhatarpur SP Agam Jain has announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to Sanjay’s arrest, and five police teams are working to trace the victims.
“We’ve arrested three more suspects and are confident of locating the woman and children soon,” said Naveen Dubey, SDOP Lavkushnagar.
In another shocking incident from tribal-dominated Alirajpur district, a minor girl narrowly escaped a kidnapping attempt on Wednesday. Though the family initially did not report the matter, a chilling video of the incident surfaced on Friday, forcing police action.
The footage shows three men — one wielding a sharp weapon — attempting to abduct the girl on a motorcycle. Her sister’s desperate screams and a stroke of luck as the vehicle got stuck in traffic allowed the girl to jump off and escape.
Police have now registered a case and launched a probe into the incident, which has left the region on edge.
