Bantwal, Jan 28: The District Congress Committee (DCC) president MLA B Ramanath Rai urged the police department to arrest local BJP leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat who incited communal disharmony during the Hindu Samajotsava with his provocative speech at Uppinangady, a few days ago.
Rai was addressing a massive protest of party activists held in front of taluk office, B C Road, on Friday January 27, opposing the unpatriotic men causing communal disharmony.
Rai mocked at DK district-in-charge minister Krishna Palemar who supported Dr Bhat by saying that the latter had not committed any gross act through his speech. He alleged that Palemar is not fit to continue as minister as he is a slave of Dr Bhat and demanded the minister tender his resignation.
Mangalore MLA U T Khader said that enlightened people in the society ought to be awakened in order to restrain the unpatriotic forces from creating communal disharmony.
DCC former president Bondala Jagannat Shetty commended the police for registering a case against Bhat and urged them to arrest him.
The women’s Congress president Mamata Gatti said that it’s a disgrace to women in the society including Hindu women, when a veteran politician speaks ill about women. ZP member M S Mohammed, Congress district SC / ST president Padmanabha Naringana, and ZP former member Shahul Hameed called upon the people to maintain communal harmony.
Block Congress presidents Abbas Ali, Mayilappa Salian and Prakaschandra Alva, taluk youth Congress president Vishwanat Gowda Mani, veteran party men Sudarshan Jain, A C Bhandary, Padmashekar Jain, Ummer Farouq, Sadashiv Bangera, Roshan, Abdul Razak Kukkaje and hundreds of party activists were present on the occasion.
A mega protest rally was held by the party activists from Kaikamba–Polali welcome arch to taluk office at B C Road.
The taluk united Jamaat condemns the derogatory speech by unpatriotic men in the guise of Hindu Samajotsava at Uppinangady, said Jamaat Committee president S Abbas Haji. He also urged the police to arrest Prabhakar Bhat and not just register an FIR against him.
