Bahrain: Young Talents Impress at Konkani Kutam Dance, Singing Contest

Bahrain, Jan 29: A plethora of young talent reverberated at the Karnataka Social Club premises here on Friday January 27 as children competed with each other to bag the top honours in the annual dance and singing contest organised by Konkani Kutam Bahrain

The competitions began at 11 am and as many as 30 children enthusiastically participated.

The contest was open to all Konkani speaking children.

The contest comprised two age groups - 4 to 8 and 8 to 12 years in both singing and dance categories.

In the 4-8 years category in singing, Rolwyn Martis bagged the first place, while Elroy Mendonca and Nikita Fernandes walked away with the second and third prizes respectively.

In the 8-12 years category, it was Melissa Martis who won the first place, followed by Ancila D'Souza and Rochelle Dantis in second and third positions respectively.

In the dance contest, the first place went to Joel D'Souza in the 4-8 years category, while Echelle Sequeira secured the second place and Nikita Fernandes came third.

In the 8-12 years category, Joanna D'Souza won the first place, and Ashlin Alva and Rowyn Fernandes bagged the second and third places respectively.

Consolation prizes were given to all participants.

Walter Dantis, well-known Konkani poet compered the programme. Richard Moras, Convener of Konkani Kutam delivered the vote of thanks.

Sumptuous lunch was served by  Udupi Palace Restaurant.

    congratulation to all the winners .oh... it looks like a wonderful program and no judges at all. hats off to konkni kutam bahrain for conducting this compitition with audience pole and sms.I think first time in konkani history this happened.As per my oinion other organizers should follow them .Hats off to konkni kutam team
