Smriti Mandhana becomes first Indian woman with centuries in all formats

Daijiworld Media Network - Nottingham

Nottingham, Jun 28: Smriti Mandhana etched her name into the history books on Saturday, becoming the first Indian woman cricketer to score centuries in all three international formats — Tests, ODIs, and T20Is — with a stunning hundred against England in the first T20I at Trent Bridge.

Mandhana smashed a blazing 112 off 62 balls, featuring 15 fours and 3 sixes, leading India to their highest-ever T20I total against England — 210/5 in 20 overs. With regular skipper Harmanpreet Kaur sidelined due to a head injury, Mandhana captained the side and delivered a milestone innings in her maiden outing as T20I captain.

The century was her first in T20 Internationals and marked her 14th international ton overall — 11 in ODIs, two in Tests, and now one in T20Is. She is only the second Indian woman after Harmanpreet Kaur to register a T20I hundred.

India also gave a T20I debut to left-arm spinner N. Shree Charani, while Sneh Rana returned to the squad after a two-year gap.

Mandhana, 28, made her international debut at just 16 years of age in a T20I against Bangladesh in 2013. She scored her first international century in 2016 against Australia in Hobart and followed it with her first Test century in 2021 during the pink-ball Test in Australia.

Her dominance has been most pronounced in ODIs, where she has already scored four centuries in 2024 alone, setting a new benchmark as no other woman has achieved more than three tons in a single calendar year. Her consistent brilliance earned her the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year title and a spot in the ICC ODI Team of the Year.

Smriti Mandhana continues to redefine the standards in women’s cricket — with flair, consistency, and now, a record that places her in elite company worldwide.
