Hyderabad family of four killed in fiery crash in US

Dallas, Jul 8: A tragic accident in Dallas claimed the lives of a Hyderabad-based Indian family of four, including two young children, after their car was hit by a mini-truck and burst into flames on Monday. The victims, identified as Tejaswini, Sri Venkat, and their two children, were on a holiday in the United States.

According to initial reports, the family was returning to Dallas from Atlanta after visiting relatives when the fatal collision occurred in Green County. A mini-truck, allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the road, rammed into their vehicle head-on. The impact ignited the car, trapping all four inside and leaving them charred beyond recognition.

Authorities have sent the remains, mostly bones, for forensic analysis and will rely on DNA testing for confirmation of identities before handing them over to the family.

This is the latest in a series of road tragedies involving Indian families in the US. In September 2024, four Indian nationals died in a fiery crash near Dallas when a speeding truck rear-ended their SUV. A month earlier, an Indian-origin couple and their daughter were killed in another accident, leaving only their teenage son alive.

The series of accidents has left the Indian community in the US and back home in deep shock and mourning.
