Mangalore, Jan 30: A man from Kerala lost his life when a mound of mud collapsed on him while digging a well near Baikampady here on Monday January 30.

The incident occured at around 1 pm near a petrol bunk between Panambur and Baikampady industrial area.

The deceased is Vishnu, who was engaged in digging the well. There were four others with him but they escaped, while Vishnu got stuck under the pile of mud.

They had dug the ground for about 25 ft, when the mud they had removed suddenly caved in.

22-year-old Vishnu was an employee of Shyam Earthmovers.

It took nearly six hours for the body to be dug out. Bulldozers were used for the rescue operation to remove the soil.

The body has been shifted to Wenlock hospital. A case is yet to be registered at Panambur police station.

Vishnu, may your soul rest in eternal peace and give comfort and courage to the family in the lost of your loved one. Shayam Earthmovers should have had safety measures to prevent such incident. The contractor will bribe and get out of this. But the poor family of Vishnu will have to from piller to post to get compensation for the deceased family.

Let the private companies work with safety measures. They should adhere by the rules otherwise always risk for one's life. In the gulf even a small compay keeps safety measures to avoid any damage.specially the precious human lives. Field work always require safety. Company Officials please be aware.

    ONE MORE LIFE LOST.

MAY BE OF NO USE FOR MANY.

BUT MAY BE A VACUUM NEVER TO BE FILLED FOR A FEW.

ALL WILL FORGET WITHIN HOURS AND THE COMPANY WILL CONTINUE IN THE SAME FASHION.

SHORING SYSTEMS IN VULNERABLE DIG WALLS IS COMPULSORY IN OUR WORK SITES.

IT IS NOT EXPENSIVE TO HAVE SUCH SAFETY SYSTEMS.

WHY DON'T THE OWNERS INVEST LITTLE FOR SAFETY OF WORKERS?

THIS IS ONLY BECAUSE IMPLEMENTATION OF LAW IS NOT AT ALL STRICT DUE TO POLITICAL PULL THAT THESE RICH BUILDERS ENJOY.

THIS IS WHY THE WEALTHY OWNERS WILL SPEND MILLIONS ON POOJAS, NAGAMANDALAS AND WHAT NOT BUT NOTHING FOR BASIC SAFETY OF THEIR OWN HARDWORKING WORK FORCE.

PUBLIC MUST BAN SUCH CONTRACTORS WHO HAVE NO VALUE FOR HUMAN LIVES.

BUT WILL THAT HAPPEN ANYTIME SOON?
