Mangalore, Jan 30: In yet another case of alleged medical negligence, a 40-year-old man lost his life after he was admitted at Vijaya Clinic here on Monday January 30.

Anil Raj, a painting contractor, fainted in his residence in Bikarnakatte on Monday morning and was rushed to Vijaya Clinic.

His blood pressure was found to be low and to bring it under control, the duty doctors are said to have administered him an injection.

However, the doctors did not know that he also suffered from diabetes, and after administrating the injection, his sugar level suddenly increased, allege Anil's family members.

At around 3.30 pm, he collapsed following a cardiac arrest. His family members said that medical negligence caused his death. They also said that lack of communication between the doctors had led to the tragic incident.

The doctors in their defence told daijiworld that at that moment when Anil was brought in for treatment, they had no other option but to administer the injection. They, however, admitted that they had failed to detect diabetes.

Bunder circle inspector Vinay Gaonkar and police officer Ramakrishna and other personnel arrived at the spot to bring the situation under control.

It might be a negligence, but doctors treated as emergence to save the patient. after all doctors are human being not a god. doctors can give best possible treatment, but life and death in the hands of god. IF life n death would have been in the hands of doctors we wouldnt have been seen any doctors death.

Not to blame any one . Every soul has a fixed time. When it nears it should leave the body. Reasons may be thousands... When god appointed the angel of death to catch the soul, It was not interested in that assignment. When god asked it's displeasure , Angel told that all will began to blame it and it won't get respect anywhere. Then god assured the angel not to worry for that as it's name never ever come up whenever death occurs to anywhere. It is 100% correct whenever death occurs we attaches that death to suicide, accident, drowning, poisoning, murder, earthquake, flood, war etc....

Instead of critizing the hospital authorities, we can also say that it was his destiny and call from God into His Kingdom. Pls spend your valuable time thinking good and doing some noble deeds.

Why blame Vijaya clinc for the death? The person ,in all probability died of bleeding inside his brain !The clue for this is the sudden loss of consciousness.Without a postmortem examination, one should not jump to conclusions annd blame the doctor and clinic !

This is not new incident in this hospital or in other big hospitals of Mangalore.Other day Vinay Hegde was speaking on poor quality of our engineers and many comments were about commercialisation of education. If pass grade(35% marks)students become doctors by paying hafty donation to the colleges this is the result. These type incidents are on rise in Mangalore nowadys.Only thing is people should be more careful about killer doctors avoid such hospitals. No solution by complaining because doctors are one in such cases.

May be the doctors are panadol doctors who have qualified by giving capitation fees. It should be noted that, they (Doctors) are treating human beings and not machines like engineers. They should take care of human values and good communication during shift hand over. Indian Medical Council should verify this case stongly against negligence.

Can anybody report about a single doctor who can add a second to any person's life? As per my opinion doctors are able only to lessen the misery of patients.

It is a sad incident that the loved ones lost their family members. The doctor is fully responsible for his negligence as he should have done the blood work before going to anything. I worked in a hospital in New York for more than 20 years and first thing they will do the blood work whereby they will find out what is going on in the body and on that basis they will treat the patient. I do not blame the doctors as they are stressed out and mistake can happen. I feel sorry for the family members who lost their beloved and may the soul of Anil Raj rest eternal peace. Just last year Feb.2011 when I was vacation in Udupi I had a drug horeaction I was taken to Adarsh hospital and first thing they did was they drew my blood and with that report they found out what was wrong with me as other wise I would not be alive. Dr.G.S Chandrasheker took care of me and he is the most efficient doctor who takes care of his patients round the clock. He has efficient back up doctors.

Even though the doctor didn’t check the blood sugar and given dextrose patient can not die because of high blood sugar. he might had sub arachnoid bleed or aneurysm/ Av malformation. In the ward he would have bled and deteriorated. Cardiac arrest might be because of arrhythmias or Increased Intra Cranial Pressure. No point in blaming the doctor.

Back in the old days Vijaya Clinic was one of the most respected hospitals in mangalore. With modernization this hospital has actually gone backwards & it is in pathetic condition. This is coming from a son whose dad got such unprofessional treatment there. My sincere feedback to everyone is not to go this hospital anymore, there are so many new & modern hospitals around. Please open your eyes, This place is not humans who want to get cured & live.

If you need to practice medicine or to take up a job in any hospitals in the middle east it is mandatory to pass the examination from the Ministry of health.Because of this rule many doctors have lost their jobs.Since the corruption at its peak level in India many students are passing medical exams without any effort.and we are becoming the victims of it.This incident need to be thoroughly investigated and if found guilty hospital should take the complete responsibility of the consequences.

    Excuse me for anonymity.
It is unlikely to a person to die of cardiac arrest due to diabetes. Diabetes normally complicates into hypoglycemia and or hyperglycemia-in both conditions patient goes into coma before death. It appears that there is some other problem which the doctors might not have been able to diagnose. In these hospitals most of the affairs are managed by duty doctors and consultants visit once or twice a day. It is all probability that the patients condition was not properly assessed and treated. Such incidents should be investigated properly by competent people and if there is any lapse it has to be set right so that another precious life is not lost.

Medical Negligence constantly happening in mangalore in recent days. This is because highly proficient students are not given the seat in M.B.B.S. But only lowest mark fetched students are given seats, for great amount money paid as capitation fee. like this Doctors do harm to the poor patients who visit them.
