Panaji, Jul 19: Goa University has achieved a historic milestone by securing an A+ accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for the first time in its history.
Announcing the development, the university said it scored a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.3 on a seven-point scale, marking a significant leap from its previous grades.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant extended his congratulations to the university for the prestigious recognition.
Earlier this month, the NAAC team conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the university. The Varsity had earlier been graded B++ for 2022–2027, and 'A' during 2014–2019 with a CGPA of 3.01 to 3.25 — the highest until now.
According to officials, 70% of the NAAC score is based on quantitative criteria such as faculty qualifications, permanent staff numbers, and vacancies, while the remaining 30% is based on peer team assessments.
