Jhalawar, Jul 25: Tragedy struck Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on Friday morning as a government school building in Piplodi village, Manohar Thana, collapsed, claiming the lives of at least four children. Over 40 students and staff members are feared to be trapped under the debris, sparking a massive rescue operation.

The incident occurred around 8:30 am at the Piplodi Government School, where classes were underway. Local residents rushed to the scene immediately and joined hands with district officials and disaster response teams, who were deployed soon after the collapse.

Sources from the administration revealed that the building was in a dilapidated state and multiple complaints had been made earlier regarding its structural integrity. Despite warnings, no action was reportedly taken, leading to Friday’s horrific incident.

District authorities, NDRF teams, and medical personnel are engaged in round-the-clock rescue efforts. The death toll is feared to rise as teams continue to search for survivors under the rubble.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured strict action against those found guilty of negligence. A high-level inquiry has been ordered.

The tragedy has triggered outrage among parents and local residents, many of whom alleged that repeated appeals for repairs had fallen on deaf ears. As anxious families gather at the site, hopes remain pinned on the rescue teams working tirelessly to bring out those still trapped inside.
