Hyderabad, Aug 3: In a major crackdown on drug abuse among the urban elite, Telangana police raided a farmhouse in Rangareddy district, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, where six IT professionals were caught red-handed during a drug-fuelled birthday celebration.

The farmhouse was reportedly booked by an IT professional identified as Abhijit Banerjee for a private party. Acting on a tip-off, police swooped in during the late hours and uncovered a disturbing scene—partygoers were allegedly consuming banned narcotics and imported liquor.

Authorities confirmed the seizure of LSD, hashish, and other contraband worth Rs 2 lakh, alongside three luxury vehicles found at the scene. All six detained individuals were subjected to drug testing and tested positive for substance use, officials said.

Two other attendees managed to flee during the raid, and a manhunt is underway to track them down.

The police have also booked the manager of the farmhouse for facilitating the illegal gathering, as the venue was allegedly rented out without due diligence, in violation of local laws.

This incident adds to a growing list of high-profile drug busts in the Cyberabad region, which has become a focal point for illegal party culture in recent months. Just weeks ago, police unearthed a 'mujra' party where marijuana was being consumed, followed by the discovery of a rave party involving narcotics like OG Kush, psychedelic mushrooms, and charas.

In a related development, authorities had earlier arrested a Hyderabad-based hotel entrepreneur linked to an international drug racket. A cache of cocaine and synthetic narcotics was recovered during that operation.

With the latest arrests, officials have reiterated their commitment to dismantling drug networks operating under the guise of high-end gatherings and social events.
